AVEBAL HISTORY

How did all begin?. It's very simple at the beginning of the year 2002, some fanatic handball players gathered to talk about the possibility of creating an Association to keep them united for that old idea, handball, and why not? To be able to continue practising it. We started it up and on 22nd May of the same year the Association was registered under the name of Associació de Veterans del Balón mano Balear, later it became the Associació de Veterans de Balonmano de les Illes Balears (AVEBAL). At the very beginning we tried to use the Pabellón Polideportivo IME Son Cotoner, belonging to the townhall ofPalma, for two hours on Thursday from 8,30 pm to 10,30 pm but when it was busy the first hour we had to train outside, as you can imagine when it was raining it was not very comfortable. After our first year playing, we proposed to continue training also in summer and that was possible due to the help of the managers of the Institut Balear de l'Esport. In September we get the permission to train two hours in the Pavilion, since then, we have trained every thursday without any interruption and with a great attendance of players. About our participation in some Official Competition we can say that every year we have played the Copa Federación and also some friendly matches. It is also remarcable our open day, a day to enjoy with the party and matches in our Pavilion. In our third triennal we can be very proud of the big acceptance that we have received as it is shown in the overcrowded attendance to our trainnings. The range of ages of this wonderful club of friends is really  wide, between 30 and 70,  5 decades that means that any ex-handball player with no disability can still play.  In AVEBAL it will always be place for those players that because of the age, have finish their mission in their own team, but they still enjoy playing
